Midday Lullaby
A Poem
Midday Lullaby
The chirp of the cricket
Interrupts the hum of the garden spigot,
And the sticky heat of day
Gingerly sings lullay.
Stale wind rumbles the trees,
And knocks the stalks upon their knees,
So the dancing summer shades
Can whisper-sing lullay.
Like a great green mass of sea,
Swelling spirits roll the leaves,
So the finch, the owl and the chattering jay,
All sing and hoot, and sing lullay.
The hares all sprint across the grass,
And squirrels clamor as the hours pass,
So in the breeze I think I’ll stay,
And listen to the day sing sweet lullay.

I love this poem, it came timely as a bolster in the face of decision. Thank you for sharing your work
