I Wish, I Wish
A Poem
I Wish, I Wish
Like a moth gone fluttering away to flames,
Like a stranger playing stranger games,
Like a creeping vine that creeps along
The cracking, weathered, garden wall,
Hellish nymphs play cool their call,
And saunter ghouls with their vexatious songs.
Like pearling orbs of pleasure’s entreat,
Like toadstool caps which look so sweet,
Like aroma guiding lower appetites quick
To the fairy circles past the grievous pits,
Where the zombies scuffle and the corpses sit,
That might I cast a haunting wish.
Like a fevered ghost that kicks his chains,
I wish I never wished again,
Like a thrall enslaved to a master’s call,
I wish I never wished at all.

Love where you took this, and also how you wrapped it up. Great imagery, too, with enough left unsaid that I felt like I could connect my own dots. Nice one all around!
This plays with a really interesting set of images ... intriguingly layered. Nice work.
