Coffee & Egg
Coffee & Egg
I brew a cup and crack an egg,
The dreams all clear my eye
That disturbed a restless sleep
Of manic thoughts and sights.
A fractured pearlescent shell,
The yolk within shines out.
Scrambles up and spatters round,
The pops and sizzles sound,
As white and gold are fired atop
The licking flames of heat.
Dashed out from milky oblong skull,
The loose becomes concrete.
And earthy grounds submerge themselves
In boiled dark liquid deep,
Release their essence hidden in
Mere fragments of the bean.
With heat the dust arises live,
Fragrant and firm at last.
Waiting inert for son of man
Lifting, pulling the plan.
Into these things we see beyond;
A surface and a depth.
Upon this rock we break the yolk
And beckon down the breath.
