Awake, You Star
Awake from dozing you sleepy one,
Awake from slumber, your sleeping done;
Awake from dreams and drowsy snore,
You brightness of the unblessèd morn.
Rise and awake, you rested delight,
Beshine your rays and lend me sight,
Let heat be joy and your warmth be nigh,
So that I might, in comfort lie.
Awake and bring this sleeper to life,
Awake my eyes to the morning’s light,
Awake my bed to the dawning’s touch,
And paint my head with daylight’s brush.
Awake and fill the awaiting skies,
Be awake you star, make sunshine rise,
Bring all the world before your eyes,
But keep the light till the night we die.
